Étiqueté : single bet calculator
So — been using this thing for maybe four months now and it’s basically bookmarked at this point, so figured I’d write something up since someone asked me last week. I’m in the UK, generally stick to footie and the horses, nothing mad, so take it how you like.
The reason I started using it was actually a bit daft — I never could get my head round what an ew payout would be with 1/5 odds a place. Basically I’d guess and get a shock. These days I type the odds in first, every time, even a simple single bet.
The single bet calculator is the one I’m on daily — you drop in the price and your stake and it shows the return straight away, fractional or decimal, doesn’t matter. Same tool covers the multiples — trebles returns, a lucky 15, yankees, and that’s where most people I know lose track. If you want a look, it lives at trixie calc and it’s free with no account nonsense.
One thing that actually made a difference was the geekier extras. The odds-to-probability calculator and it makes obvious what margin’s baked in, plus a kelly staking calculator — I use half kelly since full stakes are a quick route to a dead bankroll. The dutching one is handy too for when I’m covering two or three runners.
Couple of gripes. The design is pretty plain — not much flash, which honestly I don’t mind but some will. On mobile it’s fine but the bigger tables make you pinch and zoom. There’s nothing on the app store, just the site — fine by me but you asked.
Anyway. Costs nowt, no ads shoved in your face, works. If anyone even now adds it up in their head, give it a go — saved me a fair few « wait, that’s it? » moments.
Right — been on this thing for maybe six months now and it’s basically bookmarked at this point, so figured I’d say something since a lad on another thread asked me last week. I’m in the UK, generally stick to footie and the horses, nothing mad, for context.
What got me on it was genuinely embarrassing — I could never get my head round what an each way payout actually was once you get five places instead of three. I used to just wing it and then be surprised. These days I punch the numbers in before I place anything, even a simple single bet.
The single bet calculator tool is the part I use most — you drop in your stake, the odds and it spits out returns straight away, fractional or decimal, doesn’t matter. There’s also the multiples — doubles and trebles maths, lucky 15 and lucky 63, yankees, honestly that’s where most people I know mess it up. Have a go yourself, it’s over at bet calculator and there’s no login wall, which I appreciated.
What actually made a difference was the more serious tools. The odds-to-probability converter which shows you how much the bookie’s taking, and a kelly tool — I run quarter kelly because full kelly is terrifying. The dutch tool gets used a fair bit if I’m spreading across selections.
It’s not perfect mind. Its design feels a bit basic — not much frills, looks like it was built by someone who cares more about maths than colours. Phone-wise it works but the acca grid make you pinch and zoom. Also there’s no proper app, it’s browser only — fine by me but you asked.
Right, that’s me. Free, no ads shoved in your face, does the job. Anyone who honestly works out returns on a calculator app, have a look — saves me plenty of arguments with the bookie.
So — have been messing about with this thing for something like four months now and it’s basically bookmarked at this point, so figured I’d say something since someone asked me the other day. I’m UK based, generally do football and horses, nothing mad, for context.
What got me on it was genuinely embarrassing — I never could work out what an e/w payout would be when the place terms changed. Basically I’d guess and moan when the payout landed. These days I stick my stake in first, every time, even the boring singles.
The single bet calculator tool is the bit I use most — type in your stake, the odds and it shows profit and total return instantly, fractional or decimal, doesn’t matter. Same tool covers the fiddly ones — doubles and trebles returns, a lucky 15, patents and yankees, honestly that’s where most people I know lose track. Have a go yourself, it’s over at betting converter odds and it’s free with no account nonsense.
One thing that really changed how I bet was the nerdier tools. The odds-to-probability converter that shows the overround, plus a kelly tool — I run quarter kelly because full kelly is a quick route to a dead bankroll. Dutching calculator is decent when I’m covering two or three runners.
Not all sunshine though. The interface looks pretty plain — zero frills, looks like it was built by someone who cares more about maths than colours. Phone-wise it’s fine though the lucky 63 breakdown need a bit of scrolling. And no app, it’s browser only — slight shame just flagging it.
So yeah. Doesn’t cost anything, barely any ads, works. If anyone honestly works out returns on a calculator app, have a look — saved me plenty of arguments with the bookie.
