Étiqueté : single bet calculator
So — been on this thing for about six months now and it’s stuck on my phone, reckon I’d write something up since a lad on another thread asked me the other day. I’m in the UK, generally bet football and racing, small stakes, so take it how you like.
The reason I started using it was honestly embarrassing — I could never get my head round what an ew payout actually came to with 1/5 odds a place. Basically I’d eyeball it and get a shock. Now I stick my stake in before I place anything, even a straight one-selection punt.
Their single bet calculator tool is the one I open most — you put in the price and your stake and it shows returns instantly, fractions or decimals. It also handles the multiples — trebles returns, lucky 15s, patents and yankees, and that’s where I always lose track. Have a go yourself, it lives at yankee calculator bet and it’s free with no account nonsense.
What really made a difference was the nerdier bits. They’ve got an odds-to-probability converter that shows what margin’s baked in, and a kelly criterion calculator — I stick to fractional kelly because full kelly is a quick route to a dead bankroll. The dutch tool gets used a fair bit for when I’m spreading across selections.
Not all sunshine though. The design is a bit basic — zero frills, which honestly I don’t mind but some will. Phone-wise it’s fine but the bigger tables need a bit of scrolling. There’s nothing on the app store, it’s a website and that’s it — doesn’t bother me but worth saying.
So yeah. Costs nowt, barely any ads, does the job. If you honestly works out returns on a calculator app, try it — it’s saved me a load of arguments with the bookie.
OK — been on this thing for about a few months now and it’s basically bookmarked at this point, so thought I’d say something since a mate asked me last week. Am UK based, mainly bet football and racing, a fiver here and there, for context.
The reason I started using it was honestly a bit daft — I could never figure out what an e/w return would be with 1/5 odds a place. I’d just wing it and then be surprised. Now I stick my stake in first, every time, even a simple single bet.
The single bet calculator tool is the bit I’m on daily — you drop in the price and your stake and you get profit and total return straight away, either odds format. It also handles the fiddly ones — trebles returns, a lucky 15, patents and yankees, and that’s where I’d always lose track. If you want a look, it’s over at bet calculator lucky 15 — free, no signup.
What really changed how I bet is the more serious bits. They’ve got an odds-to-probability calculator that shows how much the bookie’s taking, and a kelly staking calculator — I use half kelly as the full version is terrifying. The dutching one gets used a fair bit if I’m spreading across selections.
It’s not perfect mind. The layout looks a bit basic — not much polish, it’s clearly function over form. Phone-wise it’s fine although the lucky 63 breakdown are a squeeze. There’s nothing on the app store, it’s browser only — fine by me but worth saying.
Right, that’s me. Costs nowt, no ads shoved in your face, works. If you still works out returns on a calculator app, give it a go — saved me a load of arguments with the bookie.
Right — have been messing about with this thing for something like six months now and I keep coming back, reckon I’d write something up since someone asked me last week. I’m UK based, mostly bet football and racing, nothing mad, just so you know where I’m coming from.
The reason I started using it was actually embarrassing — I never could get my head round what an e/w return actually came to with 1/5 odds a place. I used to just eyeball it and then be surprised. These days I stick my stake in before every slip, even a simple single bet.
Their single bet calculator tool is the one I use most — you drop in the price and your stake and you get returns with no faffing, fractions or decimals. There’s also the bigger stuff — acca and treble returns, lucky 15s, patents and yankees, which is where I’d always got it wrong. If you want a look, it’s over at football accumulator calculator and there’s no login wall, which I appreciated.
What actually made a difference is the geekier bits. The odds-to-probability thing and it makes obvious how much the bookie’s taking, plus a kelly calculator — I run quarter kelly as the full version is far too aggressive. The dutching one gets used a fair bit when I’m splitting a race.
Not all sunshine though. The design looks very functional, let’s say — no polish, looks like it was built by someone who cares more about maths than colours. Phone-wise it’s fine although the lucky 63 breakdown are a squeeze. Also there’s no proper app, it’s a website and that’s it — fine by me just flagging it.
So yeah. Free, barely any ads, does the job. If anyone still adds it up in their head, give it a go — saved me plenty of dumb bets I’d have regretted.
