Étiqueté : single bet calculator
OK — have been messing about with this thing for something like four months now and I keep coming back, so figured I’d write something up since a lad on another thread asked me a few days back. I’m based in the UK, mostly stick to footie and the horses, small stakes, just so you know where I’m coming from.
How I found it was actually pretty stupid — I never could figure out what an e/w return actually was once you get five places instead of three. I used to just wing it and then be surprised. Now I punch the numbers in before I place anything, even a straight one-selection punt.
The single bet calculator tool is the part I open most — you drop in the price and your stake and it spits out the return with no faffing, either odds format. Same tool covers the bigger stuff — acca and treble maths, a lucky 15, a yankee, honestly that’s where most people I know lose track. If you fancy a poke about, it’s here lucky 15 bet calculator free — free, no signup.
The thing that really changed how I bet was the geekier extras. The odds-to-probability converter and it makes obvious how much the bookie’s taking, and there’s the kelly criterion tool — I stick to fractional kelly as the full version is terrifying. The dutching one gets used a fair bit if I’m covering two or three runners.
Couple of gripes. The interface looks very functional, let’s say — no frills, looks like it was built by someone who cares more about maths than colours. On my phone it’s fine although the bigger tables make you pinch and zoom. There’s no app, it’s browser only — slight shame but you asked.
Anyway. Costs nowt, not plastered in adverts, does what it says. Anyone who even now adds it up in their head, give it a go — saves me a fair few arguments with the bookie.
So — have been messing about with this thing for about four months now and it’s stuck on my phone, so figured I’d write something up since a lad on another thread asked me the other day. Am UK based, mostly stick to footie and the horses, nothing mad, so take it how you like.
What got me on it was actually a bit daft — I never could work out what an ew return actually was when the place terms changed. I used to just guess and then be surprised. Now I stick my stake in first, every time, even a straight one-selection punt.
The single bet calculator is the one I’m on daily — you put in the price and your stake and it spits out returns instantly, fractions or decimals. It also handles the bigger stuff — acca and treble maths, a lucky 15, a yankee, honestly that’s where most people I know mess it up. Have a go yourself, it’s here calculate yankee bet — free, no signup.
What actually made a difference was the nerdier tools. The implied probability calculator which shows you how much the bookie’s taking, and there’s the kelly criterion tool — I run quarter kelly since full stakes are terrifying. Dutching calculator is handy too for when I’m splitting a race.
It’s not perfect mind. The interface is a bit basic — not much flash, which honestly I don’t mind but some will. Phone-wise it’s usable although the acca grid make you pinch and zoom. Also there’s no proper app, it’s browser only — fine by me just flagging it.
Right, that’s me. Doesn’t cost anything, no ads shoved in your face, does the job. Anyone who even now works out returns on a calculator app, give it a go — it’s saved me a fair few arguments with the bookie.
