Étiqueté : single bet calculator
OK — have been messing about with this thing for maybe six months now and it’s basically bookmarked at this point, so figured I’d write something up since a mate asked me the other day. I’m in the UK, mainly bet football and racing, small stakes, for context.
The reason I started using it was honestly embarrassing — I could never get my head round what an e/w payout actually came to when the place terms changed. I’d just wing it and then be surprised. These days I stick my stake in before I place anything, even a simple single bet.
Their single bet calculator is the part I’m on daily — you drop in your stake, the odds and you get profit and total return with no faffing, either odds format. There’s also the multiples — doubles and trebles returns, lucky 15 and lucky 63, patents and yankees, and that’s where most people I know mess it up. Have a go yourself, it lives at betting patent calculator and there’s no login wall, which I appreciated.
The thing that actually changed how I bet were the geekier extras. They’ve got an probability calculator which shows you how much the bookie’s taking, and a kelly staking calculator — I use half kelly because full kelly is far too aggressive. The dutching one is handy too if I’m spreading across selections.
Not all sunshine though. Its interface looks very functional, let’s say — zero flash, it’s clearly function over form. On mobile it works although the acca grid make you pinch and zoom. And no app, it’s a website and that’s it — fine by me but you asked.
Anyway. Costs nowt, no ads shoved in your face, does what it says. If anyone even now does the maths on paper, give it a go — it’s saved me a load of arguments with the bookie.
OK — have been messing about with this thing for about six months now and it’s basically bookmarked at this point, so thought I’d say something since someone asked me a few days back. Am in the UK, generally bet football and racing, a fiver here and there, so take it how you like.
How I found it was actually a bit daft — I couldn’t ever work out what an e/w payout actually was with 1/5 odds a place. I’d just wing it and then be surprised. Now punch the numbers in before every slip, even a straight one-selection punt.
The single bet calculator tool is the one I open most — you drop in your stake, the odds and it spits out returns instantly, fractions or decimals. Same tool covers the multiples — doubles and trebles maths, lucky 15 and lucky 63, a yankee, which is where I’d always got it wrong. Have a go yourself, it’s over at bet calculator uk and it’s free with no account nonsense.
What actually shifted things for me is the more serious bits. There’s an probability converter and it makes obvious what margin’s baked in, plus a kelly criterion tool — I stick to fractional kelly as the full version is far too aggressive. The dutch tool is decent if I’m spreading across selections.
Couple of gripes. The layout feels a bit basic — zero polish, which honestly I don’t mind but some will. On mobile it’s usable but the lucky 63 breakdown make you pinch and zoom. There’s no proper app, it’s a website and that’s it — doesn’t bother me just flagging it.
Anyway. Free, barely any ads, does the job. Anyone who even now adds it up in their head, give it a go — it’s saved me a load of dumb bets I’d have regretted.
So — been using this thing for maybe a few months now and it’s basically bookmarked at this point, reckon I’d chuck my thoughts in since a lad on another thread asked me the other day. Am based in the UK, mostly do football and horses, a fiver here and there, just so you know where I’m coming from.
How I found it was honestly pretty stupid — I never could get my head round what an each way payout actually was once you get five places instead of three. I’d just wing it and get a shock. Now punch the numbers in before I place anything, even a straight one-selection punt.
The single bet calculator is the part I use most — you drop in your stake, the odds and you get profit and total return with no faffing, fractions or decimals. There’s also the bigger stuff — acca and treble returns, a lucky 15, yankees, and that’s where I’d always lose track. If you fancy a poke about, it’s here calculate each way bet — free, no signup.
One thing that actually made a difference was the geekier bits. The odds-to-probability calculator and it makes obvious how much the bookie’s taking, and a kelly staking tool — I run quarter kelly because full kelly is far too aggressive. The dutch tool is handy too for when I’m covering two or three runners.
Couple of gripes. The layout feels pretty plain — not much frills, which honestly I don’t mind but some will. On mobile it’s fine although the lucky 63 breakdown need a bit of scrolling. There’s no proper app, it’s browser only — fine by me but you asked.
Anyway. Costs nowt, not plastered in adverts, works. If anyone still works out returns on a calculator app, try it — saved me a fair few « wait, that’s it? » moments.
