Étiqueté : single bet calculator
Right — been using this thing for maybe four months now and it’s stuck on my phone, so figured I’d write something up since a lad on another thread asked me last week. I’m based in the UK, mostly do football and horses, a fiver here and there, for context.
The reason I started using it was genuinely pretty stupid — I never could figure out what an e/w payout actually was when the place terms changed. I’d just guess and then be surprised. These days I type the odds in before I place anything, even the boring singles.
Their single bet calculator is the bit I’m on daily — you drop in stake and odds and you get the return instantly, fractional or decimal, doesn’t matter. It also handles the bigger stuff — trebles maths, lucky 15 and lucky 63, patents and yankees, and that’s where most people I know mess it up. If you fancy a poke about, it’s over at how to calculate implied odds sports betting and there’s no login wall, which I appreciated.
One thing that really made a difference were the more serious bits. There’s an odds-to-probability thing which shows you the overround, and there’s the kelly staking tool — I use half kelly as the full version is terrifying. Dutching calculator is handy too for when I’m splitting a race.
It’s not perfect mind. The layout feels pretty plain — not much frills, looks like it was built by someone who cares more about maths than colours. On mobile it’s usable though the acca grid are a squeeze. There’s no app, it’s browser only — fine by me but you asked.
Right, that’s me. Doesn’t cost anything, no ads shoved in your face, does the job. Anyone who still does the maths on paper, have a look — it’s saved me a load of arguments with the bookie.
OK — been on this thing for something like four months now and I keep coming back, so thought I’d chuck my thoughts in since a mate asked me last week. Am UK based, mostly do football and horses, small stakes, for context.
What got me on it was genuinely a bit daft — I never could figure out what an ew return actually was with 1/5 odds a place. I used to just guess and get a shock. Now I type the odds in before every slip, even a simple single bet.
Their single bet calculator is the bit I use most — you put in your stake, the odds and it shows profit and total return instantly, fractions or decimals. There’s also the multiples — doubles and trebles returns, lucky 15s, a yankee, and that’s where I’d always mess it up. If you fancy a poke about, it lives at how to work out a patent bet and it’s free with no account nonsense.
The thing that really changed how I bet were the geekier extras. They’ve got an probability calculator and it makes obvious how much the bookie’s taking, and there’s the kelly tool — I use half kelly as the full version is far too aggressive. Dutching calculator is handy too if I’m spreading across selections.
It’s not perfect mind. Its layout looks a bit basic — zero flash, which honestly I don’t mind but some will. Phone-wise it works though the acca grid need a bit of scrolling. Also there’s nothing on the app store, it’s browser only — doesn’t bother me but you asked.
Right, that’s me. Costs nowt, not plastered in adverts, works. Anyone who even now works out returns on a calculator app, try it — saved me a load of « wait, that’s it? » moments.
