Étiqueté : single bet calculator
OK — been using this thing for maybe four months now and it’s stuck on my phone, so figured I’d write something up since someone asked me last week. I’m in the UK, generally bet football and racing, a fiver here and there, just so you know where I’m coming from.
The reason I started using it was honestly pretty stupid — I couldn’t ever figure out what an ew payout would be with 1/5 odds a place. I’d just eyeball it and then be surprised. Now I type the odds in before I place anything, even a simple single bet.
Their single bet calculator is the part I’m on daily — you drop in the price and your stake and it shows the return instantly, fractional or decimal, doesn’t matter. It also handles the bigger stuff — acca and treble returns, lucky 15s, a yankee, which is where I always mess it up. If you fancy a poke about, it’s here 49s yankee bet calculator — free, no signup.
One thing that actually changed how I bet were the geekier tools. They’ve got an implied probability converter which shows you what margin’s baked in, plus a kelly calculator — I stick to fractional kelly as the full version is far too aggressive. The dutch tool is handy too for when I’m covering two or three runners.
Couple of gripes. Its layout is pretty plain — zero flash, it’s clearly function over form. Phone-wise it’s fine though the bigger tables need a bit of scrolling. Also there’s nothing on the app store, it’s a website and that’s it — slight shame but you asked.
Anyway. Free, barely any ads, does what it says. If you even now works out returns on a calculator app, have a look — saves me plenty of arguments with the bookie.
So — been using this thing for maybe five months now and it’s basically bookmarked at this point, so thought I’d write something up since someone asked me last week. I’m UK based, generally stick to footie and the horses, nothing mad, so take it how you like.
How I found it was genuinely embarrassing — I never could figure out what an e/w return actually was with 1/5 odds a place. I used to just eyeball it and moan when the payout landed. These days I punch the numbers in first, every time, even a straight one-selection punt.
Their single bet calculator is the part I open most — type in stake and odds and you get profit and total return instantly, either odds format. It also handles the fiddly ones — doubles and trebles returns, lucky 15s, a yankee, which is where most people I know mess it up. Have a go yourself, it’s over at european odds converter — free, no signup.
The thing that really made a difference was the more serious extras. They’ve got an probability converter and it makes obvious how much the bookie’s taking, plus a kelly calculator — I stick to fractional kelly since full stakes are far too aggressive. The dutching one gets used a fair bit if I’m covering two or three runners.
It’s not perfect mind. The design is very functional, let’s say — no flash, it’s clearly function over form. On my phone it works but the acca grid need a bit of scrolling. There’s no app, it’s browser only — fine by me but worth saying.
So yeah. Free, not plastered in adverts, does the job. Anyone who honestly does the maths on paper, give it a go — saved me a fair few « wait, that’s it? » moments.
