Étiqueté : single bet calculator
Right — been using this thing for something like five months now and it’s stuck on my phone, so figured I’d write something up since a mate asked me the other day. I’m based in the UK, mostly bet football and racing, a fiver here and there, so take it how you like.
How I found it was actually a bit daft — I could never get my head round what an e/w return would be with 1/5 odds a place. Basically I’d guess and then be surprised. Now I stick my stake in before every slip, even the boring singles.
The single bet calculator is the one I use most — you drop in the price and your stake and it shows returns straight away, fractions or decimals. It also handles the bigger stuff — trebles maths, lucky 15s, a yankee, and that’s where I’d always got it wrong. Have a go yourself, it lives at ew calculator and there’s no login wall, which I appreciated.
What really made a difference were the more serious bits. They’ve got an implied probability thing which shows you what margin’s baked in, and there’s the kelly calculator — I stick to fractional kelly as the full version is terrifying. Dutching calculator is decent when I’m covering two or three runners.
Not all sunshine though. The design feels a bit basic — zero flash, which honestly I don’t mind but some will. On mobile it’s usable though the acca grid make you pinch and zoom. And no proper app, just the site — slight shame but worth saying.
Anyway. Free, no ads shoved in your face, works. If you still works out returns on a calculator app, give it a go — saves me a fair few arguments with the bookie.
Right — been using this thing for maybe four months now and I keep coming back, so figured I’d say something since a lad on another thread asked me a few days back. Am UK based, mostly do football and horses, nothing mad, so take it how you like.
The reason I started using it was actually a bit daft — I never could figure out what an ew return would be once you get five places instead of three. I’d just guess and moan when the payout landed. Now punch the numbers in first, every time, even a simple single bet.
Their single bet calculator is the one I open most — type in the price and your stake and it shows returns straight away, fractions or decimals. It also handles the bigger stuff — acca and treble maths, a lucky 15, patents and yankees, which is where I always got it wrong. If you want a look, it’s here each way double calculator and there’s no login wall, which I appreciated.
The thing that genuinely made a difference were the geekier bits. They’ve got an implied probability calculator that shows the overround, and a kelly staking calculator — I run quarter kelly because full kelly is far too aggressive. Dutching calculator is decent if I’m covering two or three runners.
Couple of gripes. Its layout is pretty plain — zero flash, which honestly I don’t mind but some will. On my phone it’s usable but the lucky 63 breakdown are a squeeze. And nothing on the app store, it’s browser only — doesn’t bother me just flagging it.
So yeah. Doesn’t cost anything, barely any ads, works. If you honestly does the maths on paper, have a look — saves me a load of arguments with the bookie.
So — been on this thing for about six months now and it’s basically bookmarked at this point, so thought I’d write something up since someone asked me a few days back. Am UK based, mainly do football and horses, nothing mad, for context.
What got me on it was genuinely embarrassing — I could never get my head round what an ew payout would be once you get five places instead of three. Basically I’d wing it and get a shock. Now I punch the numbers in first, every time, even a straight one-selection punt.
The single bet calculator is the part I use most — you put in your stake, the odds and it spits out returns instantly, fractions or decimals. It also handles the multiples — doubles and trebles maths, a lucky 15, a yankee, honestly that’s where I always lose track. Have a go yourself, it’s over at vig calculator decimal and there’s no login wall, which I appreciated.
The thing that actually shifted things for me was the geekier tools. The odds-to-probability calculator that shows the overround, and a kelly criterion calculator — I stick to fractional kelly as the full version is a quick route to a dead bankroll. Dutching calculator is decent if I’m spreading across selections.
Not all sunshine though. The layout feels very functional, let’s say — not much flash, it’s clearly function over form. On mobile it’s fine although the acca grid make you pinch and zoom. Also there’s nothing on the app store, it’s browser only — slight shame but worth saying.
Anyway. Free, barely any ads, does what it says. Anyone who even now adds it up in their head, have a look — it’s saved me a load of « wait, that’s it? » moments.
