Étiqueté : single bet calculator
OK — been using this thing for something like five months now and I keep coming back, so thought I’d write something up since a mate asked me the other day. Am in the UK, mainly bet football and racing, nothing mad, just so you know where I’m coming from.
The reason I started using it was actually a bit daft — I could never get my head round what an ew payout would be when the place terms changed. I used to just wing it and then be surprised. Now I type the odds in before every slip, even a straight one-selection punt.
Their single bet calculator is the one I use most — you drop in stake and odds and you get profit and total return instantly, fractions or decimals. Same tool covers the bigger stuff — doubles and trebles returns, lucky 15 and lucky 63, a yankee, which is where I always mess it up. Have a go yourself, it’s here how many bets in a lucky 63 and there’s no login wall, which I appreciated.
What actually changed how I bet was the more serious extras. The implied probability thing that shows how much the bookie’s taking, plus a kelly staking calculator — I stick to fractional kelly as the full version is a quick route to a dead bankroll. Dutching calculator is handy too when I’m spreading across selections.
Couple of gripes. The design looks a bit basic — no frills, looks like it was built by someone who cares more about maths than colours. On mobile it’s fine but the bigger tables need a bit of scrolling. And no app, it’s a website and that’s it — slight shame but worth saying.
Right, that’s me. Free, barely any ads, works. If you even now adds it up in their head, give it a go — it’s saved me plenty of dumb bets I’d have regretted.
OK — have been messing about with this thing for something like a few months now and it’s basically bookmarked at this point, reckon I’d write something up since a lad on another thread asked me the other day. I’m in the UK, mainly stick to footie and the horses, nothing mad, so take it how you like.
The reason I started using it was genuinely embarrassing — I could never figure out what an e/w return actually was with 1/5 odds a place. I’d just wing it and moan when the payout landed. These days I punch the numbers in before I place anything, even a simple single bet.
The single bet calculator is the part I open most — type in the price and your stake and it spits out returns with no faffing, fractions or decimals. Same tool covers the bigger stuff — trebles returns, a lucky 15, patents and yankees, and that’s where I’d always got it wrong. Have a go yourself, it’s over at betting odds to probability and it’s free with no account nonsense.
One thing that really changed how I bet was the geekier extras. There’s an probability thing which shows you the overround, and a kelly staking calculator — I stick to fractional kelly because full kelly is far too aggressive. The dutching one is handy too if I’m covering two or three runners.
It’s not perfect mind. The design is a bit basic — zero polish, it’s clearly function over form. Phone-wise it works although the acca grid need a bit of scrolling. Also there’s no proper app, it’s a website and that’s it — doesn’t bother me but worth saying.
Right, that’s me. Costs nowt, no ads shoved in your face, does the job. If anyone honestly does the maths on paper, have a look — saves me a load of dumb bets I’d have regretted.
Right — have been messing about with this thing for about six months now and it’s basically bookmarked at this point, reckon I’d write something up since a lad on another thread asked me last week. Am in the UK, generally do football and horses, a fiver here and there, for context.
What got me on it was genuinely pretty stupid — I could never get my head round what an each way payout would be with 1/5 odds a place. Basically I’d wing it and get a shock. Now I stick my stake in before every slip, even the boring singles.
Their single bet calculator tool is the bit I’m on daily — you put in your stake, the odds and you get returns with no faffing, either odds format. It also handles the fiddly ones — trebles returns, a lucky 15, yankees, honestly that’s where I always got it wrong. If you fancy a poke about, it’s over at dutching calculator and there’s no login wall, which I appreciated.
One thing that genuinely shifted things for me is the geekier extras. The implied probability converter and it makes obvious the overround, plus a kelly criterion calculator — I use half kelly because full kelly is far too aggressive. The dutching one is handy too if I’m covering two or three runners.
It’s not perfect mind. Its layout feels a bit basic — zero flash, looks like it was built by someone who cares more about maths than colours. Phone-wise it’s fine although the acca grid are a squeeze. And no app, it’s browser only — slight shame but you asked.
Anyway. Costs nowt, no ads shoved in your face, works. If anyone honestly does the maths on paper, give it a go — saved me a fair few « wait, that’s it? » moments.
