So — been on this thing for something like a few months now and I keep coming back, so figured I’d write something up since a mate asked me last week. Am UK based, mainly bet football and racing, small stakes, so take it how you like.
The reason I started using it was genuinely a bit daft — I never could work out what an e/w return would be once you get five places instead of three. I used to just wing it and moan when the payout landed. Now I stick my stake in before I place anything, even the boring singles.
The single bet calculator is the part I use most — you drop in stake and odds and you get the return straight away, either odds format. Same tool covers the fiddly ones — doubles and trebles maths, lucky 15s, yankees, honestly that’s where I’d always got it wrong. If you fancy a poke about, it lives at patent bet — free, no signup.
What genuinely changed how I bet was the nerdier extras. The odds-to-probability thing and it makes obvious the overround, and a kelly tool — I stick to fractional kelly since full stakes are far too aggressive. The dutching one is decent for when I’m covering two or three runners.
It’s not perfect mind. Its interface is pretty plain — not much polish, looks like it was built by someone who cares more about maths than colours. On my phone it’s usable though the lucky 63 breakdown are a squeeze. Also there’s no app, just the site — doesn’t bother me just flagging it.
So yeah. Free, barely any ads, works. Anyone who honestly does the maths on paper, give it a go — it’s saved me a fair few « wait, that’s it? » moments.
So — been on this thing for something like a few months now and I keep coming back, reckon I’d say something since a lad on another thread asked me last week. Am in the UK, mostly bet football and racing, nothing mad, for context.
The reason I started using it was actually pretty stupid — I could never figure out what an e/w return actually came to when the place terms changed. I’d just wing it and get a shock. Now stick my stake in before every slip, even a straight one-selection punt.
The single bet calculator tool is the bit I’m on daily — type in your stake, the odds and it shows the return with no faffing, fractions or decimals. It also handles the fiddly ones — acca and treble returns, lucky 15s, yankees, which is where I always mess it up. If you fancy a poke about, it’s over at football accumulator calculator and it’s free with no account nonsense.
What genuinely shifted things for me was the more serious tools. They’ve got an odds-to-probability calculator and it makes obvious what margin’s baked in, and there’s the kelly staking tool — I stick to fractional kelly since full stakes are far too aggressive. The dutch tool is handy too if I’m covering two or three runners.
Couple of gripes. Its interface looks very functional, let’s say — zero frills, which honestly I don’t mind but some will. On my phone it’s usable although the acca grid make you pinch and zoom. There’s nothing on the app store, it’s a website and that’s it — doesn’t bother me just flagging it.
Anyway. Costs nowt, barely any ads, does what it says. If anyone even now works out returns on a calculator app, give it a go — saves me a load of « wait, that’s it? » moments.
